Welcome to the Valley Woodworkers of West Virginia webpage.  Meetings are held the second Thursday of each month at 7:00PM.  The location is 244 7th Ave.  South Charleston, WV on the third floor over the G&S Upholstery shop.  Look for the Valley Woodworker sign on the entry door.

Valley Woodworkers of West Virginia was formed in February 1991.  The purpose of the club was to serve as a means for individuals, interested in the many areas of woodworking as a hobby or as a profession to meet fellow woodworkers and to share experiences, information and ideas.

Members exchange woodworking ideas, tips, techniques, and sources on such topics as project design, planning, tool use, finishing, refinishing and joinery.

The club maintains a library with many books, magazines and project plans available to members.  Membership is open to all persons with an interest in woodworking regardless of skill level.  Beginners, amateurs and professionals are all welcome.

Here is a list of the individuals that will be at the Fall Festival
scheduled for Saturday, October 27th.
•	Steve Boster will have his bandsaw mill there to demonstrate cutting logs.
Steve, from Hurricane, WV, will also discuss and answer questions concerning
this process. Toward the end of the day, we will auction off the wood that
has been milled. There should be some interesting wood available for those
that are willing to bid. All of these proceeds go to the Valley Woodworkers of WV,
 a nonprofit corporation.
•	Steve Mickley will be there to discuss finishes and their proper application.
Steve is the host of WOOD magazine’s WOOD Online Finishing & Refinishing Forum
and is currently completing plans to open Hardwood Lumber & More… a large
full-service woodworking store in Cincinnati, Ohio. Steve has been a custom
furniture and cabinetmaker for many years. Follow his progress in opening the
 new store at www.hardwoodlumberandmore.com.
•	Jim Probst will be there to discuss furniture design. His shop is located
on Rt. 34 toward Hamlin, WV. Jim was voted "Best of Show" at the 2003
Fine Furnishings Providence Show by Fine Woodworking magazine and recently
recieved the first Tamarack Foundation Fellowship Award. His designs are sold
throughout the nation and can be seen on his website at www.probstfurniture.com
•	Paul Adkins, from Scott Depot, WV, will be demonstrating carving.
His carvings have been shown at the Governor’s Mansion in WV and at the White House.
He will have some carving tools and show how he uses them. More of his work can
be seen on his website at www.woodtofeathers.com
•	Hank Sims, from Chesapeake, Ohio, will be demonstrating spindle turning on
the lathe. Hank is co-founder of the River Cities Woodworkers in Huntington, WV.
